MICHAELA HUTH-DIERIG (Attorney at Law, admitted at OHIM) studied law and business management in Berlin as well as in Munich. During this time she spent some time with the German Patent and Trademark Office and also clerked at the Court of Appeal in Berlin (Kammergericht) for IP Law. After her education she joined a law firm in Paris specializing in business and IP law and 1991 a firm of London solicitors and trademark agents. Since 2000 she has been with Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., Burbank, USA for several internships.

Since 1990 she has been a member of the law firm Boehmert & Boehmert, first in Bremen. At the end of 1996 she relocated to Munich and established the trademark and anti-counterfeiting department. She is specialized in all aspects of trademark law, including prosecution and liti-gation, including interlocutory injunction procedures, anti-piracy (in this respect especially cooperation with customs and criminal prosecution authorities), unfair trade and domain grab-bing. She is responsible for worldwide trademark portfolios and represents trademark owners before German and European courts.

She is a member of committees of various associations in the field of IP, e.g. INTA (International Trademark Association, USA), IACC (International Anticounterfeiting Coalition, USA), Markenverband (German Trademark Owners Association) and APM (an association of German corporations against piracy).

She has been listed as one of the leading trademark lawyers in Germany for many years, among others in “Guide to World’s Leading Trademark Law Practitioners, Managing Intellec-tual Property”, “Who’s Who Legal”, “Legal 500 Deutschland”, “Best Lawyers International”, “European Legal Experts”. In the Juve Handbook 2009/2010 a competitor described her as “very solution (business) orientated, engaged and creative”.
