DR. ILKA PREUSS Dipl.-Biol., Dr. rer. nat., studied biology at the
University of Kaiserslautern, followed by doing her Diploma thesis at the German Cancer Research Center
in Heidelberg. Her PhD thesis at the Institute for Clinical Chemistry, University Hospital of Mannheim,
focussed on the regulation of arachidonic acid liberation and esterification. During a two-years
postdoctoral fellowship at the Karlsruhe Research Center and at the University of Mainz, she was active
in research on DNA-reactive chemotherapeutic agents. After that, she ran a project at the Biochemistry
Center of the University of Heidelberg, studying protein purification, cloning, and sequencing of
phospholipases. Her special interests lie in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology.
